Isola di Montecristo

Province: Livorno
The Island of Montecristo is one of the seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago. Being an integral Natural Reserve, the island is not accessible by tourists to not compromise its fragile natural environment and its waters. The only way to visit the island is request a special permission to the rangers, that can accept only a limited number of requests every year. The visit is always guided by two rangers. The paths of the island are pretty difficult: they start at Cala Maestra, the only one docking point of the island, and finish at the Monastery of San Mamiliano, in the highest part of the island.
